We are looking for a Senior Health Promotion Officer to contribute to state-wide components of the planning, development and implementation of a range of multi-strategy, multi-sector health promotion programs, interventions and policy driven solutions to improve the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders, with a focus on priority population groups.

What you'll do

  • Prepare and provide high level advice in the application of evidence, theory and judgement in planning, implementing and evaluating preventive health policy and interventions in a range of settings.
  • Identify, analyse and convey complex ideas and information to a range of stakeholders in relation to preventive health policy and reform.
  • Collaborate with key government and non-government stakeholders to support a whole-of-system approach to preventive health and improve the coordination of preventive health interventions for whole of population and high-risk population groups.
  • Advocate for and deliver high level healthy public policies and services that promote and protect the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities considering population diversity and health inequality.
  • Effectively represent the Branch and the Department on key committees and at relevant regional and state forums as required.
  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health's core values, as outlined above

About you

We are searching for someone with:

  • Demonstrated high level ability to critically analyse information and data and provide evidence-based advice to colleagues, senior management, and other stakeholders on a range of preventive health issues, including for priority population groups.
  • Demonstrated high level planning and project management skills, including experience in the coordination, development, implementation and evaluation of state-wide public health interventions.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a high performing team, communicate confidently to a range of internal and external audiences and undertake effective negotiation and consultation processes.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated flexibility in approach to work and working environment and willingness to participate in cross program initiatives to address crucial issues as requirement by management.

The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Health Promotion, Public Health, Environmental Health or Human Nutrition Science and/or Dietetics. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of duties.
