About the opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has become available for a
Director, Energy Forecasting and Planning
to join the Strategic Policy and Delivery division to oversee and support demand forecasting, power system design, market, reliability and security modelling and analysis and provide strategic advice to lead and influence the development of the least cost energy system to unlock the state's resources and demand growth potential and deliver affordable and reliable energy supply that meets greenhouse gas emissions targets.

The Strategic Policy and Delivery division seamlessly supports the Chief Executive and the department to provide impactful guidance on state, national and global strategic matters, shaping industry development, project implementation, and policy formulation.

Key Selection Criteria:

Please only address the dot points listed below in your application

  • Experience in energy market modelling and power system planning and the use of associated analysis tools (e.g. PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in jurisdictional energy markets and energy policy.
  • Significant industry experience and knowledge at a national level.
  • Proven extensive experience in energy major projects and energy transition strategies.

Essential Qualifications:

Relevant tertiary qualifications (may include, but not limited to, a master's degree and/or PhD in Economics, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics with extensive recognised discipline expertise).

Remuneration:

SAES1, Full-time

Special Conditions:

  • The successful applicant will be offered a 3-year SAES contract.
  • This position is classified as a designated position and as such, appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance screening check.
  • Intra state, interstate and overseas travel will be required.
