The Role

We are seeking an Laboratory Technician (Analytical/QC Chemistry) to develop and validate new analytical methods for Surf'N'Turf and future bioproducts derived from algae. This role is central to ensuring product consistency, efficacy, and regulatory readiness as we scale. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in extraction, purification, and quantification of bioactive compounds from microbial and/or plant systems, and thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform sample prep and run validated assays on in-process, finished-product and stability samples for product actives.
  • Operate and care for HPLC, GC/GC-MS, LC-MS, UV-Vis (and related) per SOPs; complete daily checks, system suitability, and calibration verifications.
  • Record results in LIMS and generate CoAs; compare against specifications and flag deviations/OOOS promptly.
  • Support stability studies for products, following set protocols and pull schedules.
  • Maintain tidy, compliant work areas; manage consumables and standards inventory; prepare reagents/solutions accurately.
  • Perform basic instrument troubleshooting and coordinate service with the Analytical Chemist and vendors.
  • Follow GMP/GLP (or equivalent) documentation practices (ALCOA+ data integrity), EHS requirements, and waste procedures.
  • Assist with method transfers and verification runs when updates are issued by the senior team.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements (e.g., sample batching, turnaround time) within established methods.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma/BSc in Chemistry (or closely related field), or equivalent industry experience.

  • 2–5+ years hands-on bench experience running routine analyses in QC/analytical labs.
  • Practical proficiency with HPLC and GC (method execution, not development); exposure to LC-MS/GC-MS desirable.
  • Comfortable with LIMS/ELN, SOPs, and controlled documents.
  • Solid lab maths, pipetting accuracy, and sample traceability discipline.
