Kelmscott, Western Australia Furnace and Assay Supplies Pty Ltd Full time $40,000 - $60,000 per year

We're looking for a practical and reliable person to join our small manufacturing team in Kelmscott. This role is ideal for someone who's comfortable working independently, enjoys hands-on tasks, and wants a stable, long-term position with a small team.

This position is primarily focused on picking and packing orders for local and international export. It includes packing into cartons and assembling wooden crates for freight, completing paperwork, and organising stock. While the role is based in the parts and packing area, there are opportunities to get involved in other areas of manufacturing depending on your interests and strengths.

You'll work independently on your day-to-day tasks, but as part of a close-knit team where everyone's role fits into the bigger picture. We each take responsibility for our own area while still helping each other when needed to keep things running smoothly.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00am–4:00pm, Friday 7:30am–1:30pm

Main Duties
  • Pick and pack parts for domestic and international orders
  • Assemble and modify wooden freight crates
  • Put together prefabricated crates and build small timber boxes
  • Load and unload trucks and deliveries
  • Complete freight paperwork (connotes, packing lists, invoices)
  • Organise stock in racking and on pallets
  • Monitor stock levels and pending orders
  • Follow work instructions and safety procedures
  • Maintain your own workspace and assist with general factory duties

Tools and Equipment

In this role you'll use a mix of manual and power tools, such as:

  • Nail guns, drills, sanders, panel saws
  • Manual and electric pallet jacks
  • Forklifts (LF licence required or willingness to get one)
  • Basic hand tools (tape measures, hammers, etc.)

Training will be provided, but you must be confident in your ability to learn and safely use equipment like this.

Requirements
  • Forklift licence
  • Physically fit and able to lift and carry materials safely
  • Comfortable working around power tools
  • Good memory and attention to detail
  • Confident following written instructions and paperwork
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage your own time and tasks
  • Willing to undergo a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening

Helpful Experience

We're open to a variety of backgrounds. The following experience would be useful:

  • Experience working with tools and timber
  • Trade assistant or workshop experience
  • Familiarity with freight or packing systems
  • Basic computer use (Excel, Word)
  • Experience with inventory or stock control

How to Apply

Please include a resume and a short note or cover letter (just a few sentences is fine) that answers the following:

  • What's one skill or habit from a past job that you think would carry over well into this role?
  • What tools or equipment have you used before, either at work or at home? Are there any listed above that you're already confident using?
  • What kind of tasks or jobs do you feel most confident doing, the ones you could do almost on autopilot because you're so familiar with them?

We're not after anything formal, just an honest response that gives us a feel for what you can do.
