We are seeking an experienced Dishwasher to join the team casually 28+ hours per week at Ela Mediterranean located on the waterfront dining precinct of Cairns. Hours will vary across early afternoon to evening shifts depending on the needs of the business flexible availability is required. Join our talented friendly and hardworking team

Ela Mediterranean is an established restaurant in Cairns City with a focus on quality dishes with delicious flavours and beautiful presentation of the food and drinks. The focus is on local ingredients utilising the very best available.

The Role

As an experienced Dishwasher you will report to the Head Chef and Sous Chef and chefs of a higher level assume overall responsibility for the skullery section and cleanliness within the kitchen/restaurant, being a team player is paramount to be successful in the role. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing and kitchen areas
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Empty rubbish bins and maintain cleanliness of waste disposal areas. (heavy lifting is a requirement of the job)
  • Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation or cleaning as required.
  • Check and replenish cleaning supplies and dishwashing chemicals.
  • Handle kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Follow closing and cleaning procedures as directed by supervisors.
  • Maintaining a clean operation, ensuring compliance with Food Safety Standards and equipment maintenance

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • 1 + Years as a Dishwasher/Kitchenhand
  • Demonstrated experience working within a similar position in a busy, high volume kitchen
  • Effective communication skills and work ethic with your team, management and suppliers
  • Strong work ethic and interest in your craft
  • Flare, enthusiasm and passion to perform at your best every shift

Experience/Availability

  • Available to work weekdays and weekends
  • Immediate start
  • Living in Cairns long term or an absolute minimum of 6 months

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $31.19 – $37.43 per hour
