The Role
We are seeking a Technical Lead – Civil Engineer to provide expert leadership across civil design for Power Plants, BESS, Solar, and hybrid projects. You will oversee design governance and quality assurance for all civil engineering deliverables.
As the Civil Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will guide technical direction, mentor engineers, develop standards, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
This role reports directly to the Head of Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and approve civil design deliverables: earthworks, access roads, pavements, stormwater drainage, and site grading.
- Provide civil engineering leadership across all project phases (concept, FEED, design, detailed, construction support).
- Drive technical excellence via risk management, optimisation, and quality control.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
- Mentor engineers and promote modern design practices (BIM, automation, standardisation).
- Resolve RFIs and provide construction support as required.
Key Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; CPEng, RPEQ, and RPEV qualified.
- 15+ years' civil design experience, including 10+ years in Power and Renewables.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D/12D, stormwater modelling, and related software.
- EPC/D&C project delivery experience.
- Experience with Power Plants (HV Substations), BESS/DBESS, and large-scale Solar PV.
- Strong expertise in earthworks, site grading, pavement design, and drainage.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards, TNSP codes, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
