Pathology Laboratory Aide

Southern.IML Pathology has a vacancy for a casual Laboratory Pathology Aide to work in the Pre-Analytical at the Laboratory located in Coniston. The department is responsible for the processing of specimens before testing. The main duties include specimen processing, data entry and telephone communications, commitment to high quality work and client service is essential.
The successful applicant must be highly motivated, keen to learn and able to work quickly and accurately in a busy department. Applicants will have a professional telephone manner with good communication skills. Whilst no formal qualifications in pathology are required for this position, medical and/or pathology terminology would be beneficial.
Essential criteria:
-Deal with clients in a professional manner.
-Ability to use positive language using clear communication.
-Accuracy demonstrating the ability to pay attention to details.
-Provide information to clients in a competent, clear and concise manner.
-Proven trouble shooting skills to resolve matters as they arise.
-Be proactive in dealing with clients.
-Multitask
-Ability to work independently and co-operatively in a busy department.
-Flexibility to work a range of shifts.
Desirable criteria:
-Medical and/or pathology experience
-Medical terminology
- Keyboard skills of at least 50wpm
Applications should address the essential requirements.
Shift times in a rotating roster will be between 7.30am – 10.00pm Monday to Friday. Participation in the Saturday roster is rotational and mandatory. A Sunday roster participation may also be required. Applicants must have excellent availability to work within the department roster to meet practice needs.
