About the Role

As a Product Designer/Draftsperson, you'll play a key role in collaborating with stakeholders to design and develop products. You'll be responsible for clean sheet product solutions, improving design and functionality of existing products, producing detailed 3D models and technical drawings, and ensuring our products meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Your role will also involve re-drawing designs to meet the requirement for Metaltex manufacturing processes.

Australian work rights are required for this position.

What You'll Do

  • Design: Design clean sheet product solutions and improve performance of existing products based on project brief requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external teams, project stakeholders and customers to gain insights and foster strong relationships.
  • Innovation: Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles to enhance production efficiency and end-user experience.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical challenges, conduct root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Drawing: Using Solidworks develop accurate 3D models, technical drawings and documentation for sheetmetal and fabricated metal projects
  • Support Production: Provide technical support to production and quality teams throughout the fabrication process.

What You'll Bring

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering (CAD/Mechanical preferred) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in product design and drafting, ideally in metal fabrication.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks & Draftsight).
  • Experience with ERP and BOM management systems

    (Workplan highly regarded).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach and the ability to adapt to change.

  • Practical knowledge of fabrication machinery, tools, and measuring instruments.
