Do work that matters
This role leads the design and delivery of the bank's electronic Interest Rate Swap (eIRS) trading platform. You will architect and implement scalable, low-latency systems that support real-time pricing, negotiation, and trade execution across dealer-to-dealer and dealer-to-client markets. You'll work closely with trading desks, quant teams, and product owners to deliver innovative solutions that enhance market competitiveness and operational resilience.

We are the Group's engine room committed to delivering available, reliable, consistent technology solutions for our internal and external customers. Our technology teams provide essential tools for our people such as Microsoft Teams, Gen AI tooling and telecommunications, right through to innovative product platforms for our customers including NetBank, CommSec and Global Markets Trading systems.

We're Interested In Hearing From People Who

• Are comfortable being responsible for the strategic technology direction for the team, including managing code
• Champion thought leadership for the process architecture and develop options for improving and updating current capability.
• Are familiar with low latency concepts and geographically distributed engineering
• Have streaming and service subscription services design
• Are knowledgeable with eTrading systems performance tuning/optimisation
• Have In-depth exposure to international eTrading/pricing systems

Technical Skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team

• Deep expertise in Java (8/17), Spring Boot, and distributed systems architecture
• Experience with IRS market platforms such as Tradeweb and MarkitWire
• Strong understanding of IRS instruments, pricing conventions, and swap templates
• Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, Redis, SNS, SQS), Kafka/EventHub, DevSecOps/CI/CD technologies as well as modern SRE technology
• Experienced in using Agentic AI to assist engineering effort
• Knowledge of quant libraries and risk analytics integration
• SSL standard for secure encrypted communications
