Cardinal Contractors is seeking a dynamic Business Development and Tendering Manager to lead and manage the commercial aspects of our business. This role is crucial for ensuring profitability and growth by managing client relationships, developing business opportunities, responding to tenders, and executing strategic initiatives to meet financial targets. The successful candidate will represent Cardinal Contractors with integrity and professionalism, maintaining high standards in all customer and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the business development and tendering functions.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships to drive business growth.
  • Develop and respond to tenders and requests for work.
  • Execute strategic initiatives to meet the agreed financial budget.
  • Act as a representative of Cardinal Contractors, ensuring professionalism and integrity in all interactions.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years in a senior commercial management and/or business development role.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in leading tendering functions and securing contracts.
  • Comprehensive understanding of market dynamics and commercial operations in the civil and earthmoving industry.
  • Exceptional negotiation and client management skills, capable of engaging with various levels of stakeholders.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to identify growth opportunities and drive profitability.
  • Strong knowledge of contractual terms, financial acumen, and budget management.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, engineering, or a related field.

Detailed Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven commercial experience and demonstrated project "wins" in a similar role for an organization with 50+ employees.
  • Strong leadership in business development and client management.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills for managing tenders and contract extensions.
  • Project management and financial acumen to secure optimal outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in safety management and compliance with occupational health and safety reporting procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of workplace Occupational Health & Safety Systems and HSE Management Plans.
  • Membership in a professional body.
  • Ability to pass site-based pre-employment medicals and drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Current acceptable National Police Certificate (obtained within the last 12 months).
  • Must demonstrate integrity and represent Cardinal Contractors professionally.
