Senior Platform Engineer – AWS, Automation, Akamai

We're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with Akamai expertise to design, automate, and optimise large-scale cloud and edge platforms. You'll play a key role in building secure, observable, and high-performing infrastructure that powers digital experiences used by millions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Akamai Platform Ownership: Lead the design, configuration, and automation of Akamai edge services, including caching, routing, WAF, and performance optimisation.
  • Edge & CDN Integration: Integrate Akamai with AWS and application layers to deliver resilient, low-latency, and secure digital services.
  • Automation & Solution Design: Architect and deliver automation solutions using Terraform, Python, and GitHub Actions, embedding DevSecOps practices across the lifecycle.
  • Proof-of-Concept Delivery: Rapidly build and validate PoCs for automation and platform integration to demonstrate scalability and reliability.
  • Observability & Reliability: Implement observability stacks with Observe, Chronosphere, Calyptia, Grafana, and Prometheus to drive visibility, alerting, and continuous improvement.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure Management: Design and optimise AWS environments. Manage infrastructure components such as proxies, firewalls, and F5 load balancers.
  • Cloudflare (Bonus): Experience in Cloudflare for multi-CDN strategies or security edge complementing Akamai is highly regarded.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical direction, promote automation excellence, and mentor engineers across platform and delivery teams.
About You
  • 5+ years in Platform, DevSecOps, or Cloud Engineering roles with proven Akamai experience in enterprise-grade environments.
  • Understanding of Akamai architecture, automation, and performance/security configurations.
  • Proficient in AWS, Terraform, Python, and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Strong grasp of observability, infrastructure, and security best practices.
  • Skilled communicator with leadership ability to guide teams and influence architecture decisions.
