Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager this position will have the responsibilities for the following:
- To ensure safety guidelines, rules and regulations are adhered to at all times
- Take an active role in workshop safety matters – assess all tasks prior to commencement
- Diagnose and repair automotive issues, including engine, transmission and electrical systems.
- Service & Maintain Taxis and light vehicles to a set standard as governed by South Australian Government Annual Inspections
- Change engine and transmission oils
- Conduct quality checks before retuning vehicles to the road.
- Roadworthy testing.
- Maintain correct and up to date paperwork
- Liaise with Government Inspectors when onsite
- Liaise with Management regarding servicing and repairs
- Liaise with Drivers regarding problems that may arise during their shift
- Effect repairs as needed in the case of breakdowns and as directed by the Workshop Supervisor
- Aid with the training of apprentices and guidance of work experience students
- Issue precise and clear instructions to those assisting to allow tasks to be completed safely, effectively and in a timely manner
- Maintain a state of cleanliness to both oneself and the workplace
- Ensure tools stored appropriately when not in use and report damaged items
- Maintain safety equipment in good serviceable condition
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain diagnosis, repairs and maintenance needs in a friendly and clear manner.
- Utilise diagnostic equipment and tools to identify problems and recommend appropriate solutions
- Stay up to date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
- Trade Qualified Mechanic (at least Cert III in Automotive)
- At least 3 years work experience is required
- Experience with State Government Vehicle Regulations
- Have previous experience within the passenger transport industry
- Own reliable transport and tools
- A current driver's licence with a minimum HR class
- Well-developed personal communication skills
- Good record keeping skills
- Possess the ability to work in a team environment
