The Project Officer plays a key role in supporting the ICT Project Portfolio, working closely with project teams to deliver a range of multi-disciplinary projects from initial approval through to successful implementation and ongoing support.
This position is responsible for providing high-quality administrative and project support across the program area, with a strong focus on maintaining key project documentation and ensuring project governance processes are followed. This includes managing project registers for risks, issues, and changes; coordinating and documenting meetings; monitoring budgets and resource usage; and supporting reporting requirements.
The role requires a proactive approach to tracking project progress, identifying potential delays or concerns, and ensuring timely follow-up on actions. Attention to detail and strong coordination skills are essential to ensure projects stay on track and deliver expected outcomes.

About you:
The Department of Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Officer to support the successful delivery of key health initiatives that improve outcomes for all Victorians. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
As a Project Officer, you will coordinate and deliver a range of projects, ensuring objectives are clearly defined, plans are effectively implemented, and outcomes are achieved on time. You will develop and monitor project plans, manage risks and issues, and provide clear reporting on progress and performance.
A core part of the role involves engaging and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build strong partnerships and deliver shared goals. You will identify stakeholder needs, find innovative solutions to complex issues, and use your understanding of organisational contexts to achieve positive results.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will prepare high-quality reports, briefs and correspondence that are accurate, concise and fit for purpose, while also communicating confidently and clearly with a wide range of audiences.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in project management, stakeholder engagement and communication, with a proven ability to plan, organise and deliver results in a dynamic environment.

Mandatory
- Demonstrated understanding of project methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience providing project coordination services on ICT delivery projects.
- Knowledge and experience with financial management, including budget tracking and reporting on project budget vs actuals.
- High level competency in Microsoft office productivity tools and a high level of computer literacy, including the M365 suite of products (Teams, SharePoint, etc)
- High level competency in writing memorandums, briefing papers and other documentation, following defined processes, writing style and visual style guides.
Desirable
- Experience with project management/reporting tool sets such as Microsoft Project, Zeno is desirable.
- Experience with financial management tool sets such as Oracle Financials is desirable.
- A relevant certificate or bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, information technology or a related field is desirable.
