CareCo Services is seeking a Diversional Therapist to join our values-driven team. This role focuses on enhancing quality of life by creating therapeutic, meaningful, and participant-focused programs. You will work across disability and community services, building independence, wellbeing, and connection.

About the Role

As a Diversional Therapist, you will:

  • Design and deliver individual and group programs that promote life skills, recreation, and social participation.
  • Use a therapeutic, strengths-based approach to build capacity and independence.
  • Embed evidence-based strategies into activities that improve wellbeing and reduce barriers to engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and allied health professionals (including behaviour support teams) to ensure holistic support.
  • Provide reports, reviews, and recommendations in line with NDIS standards and participant goals.

This role is creative but also structured, requiring strong professional practice and the ability to align diversional therapy with broader support planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate therapeutic recreation programs that support individual goals and build social connection.
  • Develop structured activities such as life skills, creative arts, wellness, outdoor programs, and community inclusion opportunities.
  • Support participants experiencing psychosocial or behavioural challenges through calm, structured, and engaging interventions.
  • Ensure activities promote safety, capacity-building, and positive routines.
  • Maintain clear, compliant documentation and participant progress reports.

About You

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (degree in Diversional Therapy, Allied Health, or related discipline preferred).
  • NDIS registered (or eligible for registration).
  • Understanding of NDIS compliance, participant safeguarding, and quality standards.
  • Experience in disability, aged care, or community services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, adaptable, and participant-focused.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working alongside Positive Behaviour Support teams or in psychosocial recovery.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, person-centred practice.
  • Group program facilitation skills.
