About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team. This full-time position requires a reliable professional with demonstrated experience in painting and decorating, able to deliver high-quality finishes across a variety of surfaces and settings. The role is critical to supporting Gecko Rope Access projects across Queensland.
Key Responsibilities:
· Erecting scaffolding and ladders, and placing drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering.
· Preparing surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, repairing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces.
· Selecting and preparing paints to required colours by mixing pigments, oils, thinners, and drying additives.
· Applying paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays.
· Hanging wallpaper, matching patterns and trimming edges.
· Cleaning, maintaining and storing tools, equipment, and work areas.
· May repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames.
Key Skills and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
· At least a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification.
· IRATA Level 3 Qualification
· Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience (if no formal qualification).
· Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint mixing, and safe application techniques.
· Ability to read and interpret plans and follow detailed instructions.
· Familiarity with workplace health and safety standards, including working at heights.
· Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes.
· Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
· Fluent in English.
