Senior Sous Chef – Lead from the Front at Spoons Riverside

At Spoons Riverside, located in Swan Hill (regional Vic) we're searching for a skilled Senior Sous Chef who thrives in a hands-on kitchen culture. We are a venue known for exceptional food and team spirit.

The Role

This full-time (40 hours/week) position is perfect for an experienced Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef who is passionate about food, people, and the daily rhythm of a high-performing kitchen.

The role is diverse and includes:

· Menu development

· Daily prep

· Service

· Executing functions, events and weddings

· Maintaining the kitchen's cleanliness and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to menu planning and innovation, including à la carte and event / catering offerings.

  • Oversee and assist with daily preparation, cooking, service, and clean-up.

  • Maintain high standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation at every stage.

  • Lead by doing—train, mentor, and support junior team members while remaining active in the kitchen.

  • Manage stock, place orders, and control food and labour costs.

  • Foster a kitchen culture where every team member is valued.

What You Bring:

  • Certificate IV or higher in Commercial Cookery.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a kitchen leadership role.

  • Strong background in functions, events, and multi-cuisine service.

  • Flexible availability and a calm, proactive mindset.

  • A commitment to teamwork, accountability, and mutual respect.

  • A genuine passion for food, hospitality, and continuous improvement.
