Job Description
Moranbah North Mine are currently has an opportunity for a diligent and structured Safety Officer to join the Safety and Health Department, based in Moranbah, QLD. Reporting to the Safety Superintendent your key responsibilities will include supporting delivery of risk and assurance processes, with a particular focus on the compliance of the safety and health management system to internal and external requirements.
Key accountabilities;
- Ensure consistent application of safety & health principles in all site interactions within and beyond site boundaries
- Support the facilitation of site risk assessments and updates of SHMS documentation as assigned by the Safety Superintendent, ensuring alignment with internal and external requirements.
- Assist other departments in identifying relevant internal and external requirements for consideration in reviews of the SHEMS (e.g. Group Technical Standards)
- Maintain the site SHEMS framework documentation in accordance with the SHE Way.
- Have an understanding of and the ability to review baseline risk assessments, bowties and critical controls.
- Evaluate and report on compliance to assurance and monitoring plans, including the site SHEMS review schedule.
- Conduct regular in-field inspection to verify work activities are undertaken in accordance with documented ways of working and appropriate risk management tools.
- Maintain site compliance and legal obligations register in accordance with the SHE Way.
- Review a selection of risk management tools (SLAMs, JRAs etc) and provide input and feedback on quality to promote continual improvement.
- Participate in cross-functional integration on sustainability to manage relevant risks/impacts. Support compliance with environmental and social requirements, including commitments to stakeholders.
- Participate in investigations and contribute to the incident reporting process.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role ideally you will have:
- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
- Cert IV / DIP WHS at a minimum.
- RIIRIS402E: Carry out the Risk Management Process (G2)
- RIIRIS601E Establish and maintain risk management systems (G3)
- RIIRIS601E Establish and maintain risk management systems (G7)
- ICAM Team Member or Facilitator
- Extensive experience in a similar role H&S role is essential
