We are currently looking for a
Lead
Structural Engineer
to join our team based in our
Newcastle office
to support recent business success and growth.
About The Role
- Ensure Structural Design Deliverables are completed according to standards, checked, approved, and issued to other disciplines and to the client with revision control documentation.
- Act in client facing role to lead and coordinate the activities of a project team to ensure time and budget objectives are achieved.
- Generate and review technical documents and deliverables.
- Prepare specifications, design criteria, scope of work and material take-off lists.
- Prepare engineering proposals and monitor budgets, staying within the assigned budget and report any discrepancies.
- Complete tasks under minimal supervision ensuring that objectives of cost, quality and time are met.
- Maintain a high level of communication with the Project Manager / Engineering Manager and regularly inform of technical activities, staffing, budgets and schedules and explain reasons for actions taken.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Structural Engineering Team to deliver and implement best practice technical solutions by applying knowledge of industry developments and from experience.
- Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions
About You
- Bachelor's degree in structural engineering.
- 10+ years' proven technical experience with an engineering consulting firm or other large organisation. Mining/Construction experience is desirable.
- Accreditation as a Charter Engineer (or equivalent) or ability to obtain
- Strong design experience in brownfield environment highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in client facing project management roles, leading design teams to deliver project outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in the design of steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and mining projects.
- Enhanced knowledge of the Engineering ISO, AS, ANSI, API etc. standard design codes.
- Ability to mentor and support the development of structural engineers within the Ausenco team
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as part of a multidisciplinary group.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
