Forrest Nursery Queensland is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our dynamic team as a Nursery Hand / Macadamia Grafter. Play a vital role in developing and maintaining a productive, profitable Macadamia nursery operation while working in Queensland's beautiful outdoor environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Nursery Hand Responsibilities:

• Plant Care & Maintenance: Seed nut propagation, fertilising, pest control, pruning, and weeding to maximise plant health and growth
• Irrigation Management: Manage irrigation systems and implement nutrient programs through overhead boom spraying
• Machinery Operation: Safely operate tractors, boom sprayers, forklifts, ATVs, and specialised nursery equipment
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily servicing and basic repairs to preserve our valuable assets

Nursery Grafter Responsibilities:

• Grafting Excellence: Execute grafting strategies to maximise success rates and long-term tree health
• Production Planning: Work with supervisors to meet seasonal schedules, targets, and order deadlines
• Quality Control: Maintain accurate records, monitor plant health, and ensure hygiene standards
• Specialised Techniques: Utilise various budding and grafting techniques with precision and care

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Current Australian Manual C Class Driver's License
• Physical fitness for manual handling (lifting up to 25kg)
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Strong work ethic and reliability for full-time commitments
• Willingness to work additional hours, weekends, and night shifts when required
• Team player with excellent communication skills
• Commitment to workplace health and safety

Highly Desirable:

• Experience in horticulture, agriculture, or similar industries
• Macadamia Grafting experience desirable
• Machinery operation experience (tractor experience advantageous)
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• ChemCert certification or similar
• Forklift license (HRW-LF)
• Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
• Plant operation certificates or RII qualifications
