James An College Craigieburn is seeking a committed, responsible, passionate and experienced Secondary Maths Tutor who is available after school hours on weekdays and/or on Saturdays.

We offer supplementary evening tuition classes for students from Year 2 through to Year 10 in English, Mathematics, Science and General Ability. We also offer special streams for Scholarships and Selective Schools exam preparation.

Classes run between 4:30-8:30pm weekdays (currently Thursdays and Fridays) and 9:30am-1:30pm on Saturdays. Our students are highly motivated but need your proven teaching skills to help them achieve their best

In the role you will be:

  • Delivering pre-planned learning content to the students
  • Checking and correcting homework during class
  • Teaching concepts that will assist students with their class work and home work
  • Providing student feedback to admin team when requested
  • Giving students feedback and advice on how they can improve in the classroom
  • Being the ideal role model to our students
  • A genuine passion for helping students succeed

To succeed in this role you will need the following skills and attributes:

  • Teaching degree or near completion / tutoring experience
  • Must have or be willing to apply for Working with Children Check
  • Ability to work independently in the classroom
  • Have the ability to manage a classroom of up to 15 students
  • Genuine passion for learning and teaching
  • Commitment to attend every class you are rostered to teach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
