Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your ImpactAs a key leader at Newmont Tanami, you will ensure the safe and reliable performance of our processing plant by overseeing daily and weekly mechanical maintenance activities. You will guide your team to deliver high-quality work, drive plant performance, and support a strong safety-first culture.
As part of our team, you will- Lead, mentor, and support mechanical trades to safely complete planned and unplanned maintenance
- Ensure compliance with mechanical statutory and regulatory requirements
- Manage scoping, planning, permits, and approvals for maintenance and defect work
- Oversee inspection, repair, and maintenance of fixed-plant equipment and components
- Work closely with planning and reliability teams to support continuous improvement
- Conduct and support incident investigations and promote proactive hazard reporting
- Drive skills development and growth of apprentices and trades personnel
- Mechanical trade qualification (Fitter or Boilermaker)
- Extensive experience in mining, heavy industry, or processing environments
- Demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Proven commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
This is a site-based position at Newmont Tanami, 540km northwest of Alice Springs, working an 8:6 FIFO roster.
Approved FIFO points: Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth and Brisbane.
You'll be based in a modern accommodation village, leading a skilled maintenance team at one of Newmont's longest-life operations.
