Salary: $80,435 – $120,502 (Commensurate with experience)

Classification: Quran / Hifz / Arabic / Islamic Studies – Primary and Secondary Teacher.

Reports to: Head of Primary and Curriculum Coordinator

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Quran / Hifz / Arabic and Islamic StudiesTeacher to join our College in 2025. This is a full-time role offering the opportunity to inspire and guide students in their Islamic learning journey. The successful candidate will also assume the role of part-time Imam (recognised Sheikh/Imam credentials required) and should be fluent in Arabic and Somali, enabling effective communication with members of our diverse community. Ideally the successful applicant will also be a Hafiz of Quran.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Quran, Hifz, Arabic, and Islamic Studies aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and Islamic educational standards.
• Teach students the principles of Tajweed and Makharij with accuracy and clarity.
• Foster a strong love of the Quran, Arabic language, and Islamic values in students.
• Integrate literacy and analytical skills across subject areas to support students' holistic learning.

Assessment and Reporting

• Design and implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and communicate progress effectively with parents.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and prepare formal reports in line with College policy.

Collaboration and Professional Practice

• Work collaboratively with colleagues in curriculum planning, moderation, and resource development.
• Engage in professional learning and reflective practice to enhance teaching skills.
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
• Uphold and promote the values and ethos of the College.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Deputy Principal/Principal.

Pastoral Care and Co-Curricular Involvement

• Support the wellbeing and development of students through active involvement in the College's pastoral care program.
• Contribute to the broader life of the school by participating in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
• Model and promote Islamic values of respect, service, and integrity in all interactions.

Essential Selection Criteria:

• Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education with a specialisation in Islamic Studies, Quran, Hifz, or Arabic.
• Proven experience teaching Quran, Hifz, Arabic, and Islamic Studies to school-aged students.
• Strong knowledge of Makharij and Tajweed.
• Fluency in Somali, with the ability to serve the community as a part-time Imam.
• Strong knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum and contemporary assessment practices.
• Demonstrated capacity for effective classroom management and student engagement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
