Primary objective

To manage the effective delivery of a client centred oral health service to eligible groups in Central Australia in accordance

with Oral Health Service policies, procedures and guidelines; and to be involved in planning and policy development.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Plan, implement, manage, monitor, evaluate and report on services provided in Central Australia Oral Health facilities and

settings, including services provided by visiting specialists, in conjunction with the Clinical Manager

2. Provide high quality comprehensive clinical services to eligible client groups both adult and children in urban, rural and

remote areas, including consultancy advice on complex cases

3. Coordinate and liaise with relevant Oral Health Service managers for the efficient and effective daily running of urban

services

4. Supervise and mentor final year dental students on clinical placement during the academic year

5. Responsible for the professional and line management of urban dental officers and select non-dentist employees

6. Contribute to the formulation of Oral Health Service operational and clinical plans, policies, procedures and guidelines

7. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour

8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Experienced dentist with recency of practice and full registration with the Dental Board of Australia

2. Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical diagnosis and treatment planning and provision of care for complex clinical

cases

3. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a multi-chair clinic in coordination with other relevant managers

4. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical consultancy support and performance management of staff

1. Demonstrated understanding of and familiarity with quality improvement processes, current infection control protocols

and the ability to assess and implement new materials and techniques into clinical practices

1. Ability to work within a cross-cultural environment, especially Aboriginal culture, language and kinship systems and the

ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures

7. Current NT drivers' licence or the ability to attain one and willingness to travel away from primary place of employment

including by light aircraft or by driving out and staying in communities for up to one week at a time

Desirable

1. Qualifications in management, business administration or public health
