Cranfield Group are assisting one of our long-standing clients with the recruitment of an Electrical Design Engineer, as they prepare for the next phase of their growth plans.

As a Design Engineer, you will assist the Estimating Manager in tender preparation, including design development, technical compliance, take-offs, drawing and specification review, labour and material costings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Design & Development
  • Draft Discipline Scope of Work for electrical services with the estimating/contracts team to ensure the relevant requirements have been identified and detailed in the tender packages.
  • Take a leadership role in the electrical services aspects of the tender design process and manage the interfaces between electrical services and other engineering disciplines.

Preparation of tenders:

  • Develop and submit project engineering deliverables as identified within the principal project requirements.
  • Review electrical services design drawings to ensure compliance with contract documents and regulations.
  • Prepare takeoffs, estimates, job costings and tender proposals including scope clarification.
  • Participate in pre-submission tender reviews related to electrical services.

Pre-construction design and procurement:

  • Liaise with electrical services subcontractors, answer and generate technical queries for clients. Coordinate questions and answers between subcontractors and clients and ensure alignment of all electrical services issues before the closing of the tender.
  • Collaborate in the estimate handover process with Project Managers after award, including plans, specifications and schedules.
  • Review, compare and normalise bids from electrical services subcontractors and manage the electrical services aspect of submissions to ensure the highest level of compliance

Risk Analysis:

Review project/client specifications and documentation, identify risks and collaborate on risk mitigation strategies with our operations teams, including staying up to date with Australian Standards, industry trends and technological advancements to enhance estimation accuracy.

Proposal Strategy development:

Contribute to the development and implementation of proposal strategies.

Utilise technical knowledge to assess project complexities and identify value-add opportunities.
