Perth, Western Australia GHD Pty Ltd Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

The importance of water to the health of our world can't be overstated.

As the frequency and intensity of floods, droughts and storms increases, and the constraints governing management of water resources becomes more complex, the water industry must continue to build resiliency and lead from the front.

Together with our clients, we are thinking and doing things differently to help pre-empt and prepare for what's next. Be a part of this dynamic and committed team of diverse water specialists and drive change for your community.

You'll be able to apply our powerful global network of skills and decades of experience to create positive water outcomes that respect nature and nurture communities.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a 2-10 year experience Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Group.

In Western Australia, our 90-year partnership with the water sector has cultivated strong client relationships and a deep understanding of their challenges, equipping us to assist them in preparing for what lies ahead. Our team is very well known for water infrastructure and water resources engineering and science consulting, collaborating with industry leaders like water utilities, major mining firms, and Defense, among others. Join us to become part of a community of innovative thinkers, uniting top talent in the field to shape a positive future of water for our communities and next generations.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Leading water resource studies, including water balance and water quality assessments, and option studies, for infrastructure projects of varying scales, primarily across the built environment, energy and resource, and environmental sectors.
  • Leading the water resource component of Environmental Impact Assessments, including evaluating potential environmental effects, developing mitigation strategies and management plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Managing multidisciplinary projects, maintaining strong client relationships, coordinating with stakeholders to deliver project outcomes
  • Supporting the development of junior staff, providing guidance and feedback to help them develop their skills
  • Contributing to business development and writing proposals, identifying opportunities to secure new projects.

What you will bring to the team

  • Bachelor of Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of the environmental issues associated with management of surface water, groundwater, recycled water and surplus water.
  • Strong understanding of Australian water quality guidelines and application of these guidelines in water resource projects.
  • Strong analytical skills, ideally including proficiency in GIS, rainfall-runoff models, GoldSIM, along with advanced excel skills.
  • Strong client relationship skills and project management skills in water resources projects
