Our Library Services team is a central hub for learning, research, and collaboration at UniSC. These roles involve providing access to extensive collections, offering expert research assistance, and delivering technology support to enhance academic success and promote lifelong learning within the university community.
Primary Objectives:
- Assist students, staff, and faculty in locating and accessing library resources, including books, journals, and online databases.
- Provide research support and guidance, helping users develop effective research strategies and utilise library tools.
- Maintain the library's collections, ensuring resources are current, organised, and easily accessible.
- Offer technology support for library users, including assistance with digital resources, library software, and equipment.
- Conduct library orientation sessions and workshops to educate users on available services and resources.
- Collaborate with academic departments to support curriculum development and integrate library resources into coursework.
- Participate in outreach activities to promote library services and resources to the university community.
Desirable Qualifications or Skills:
- Experience in library services, information management, research support, or customer service.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer focused approach to service delivery.
- Proficiency in using library management systems, online databases, and digital resources.
- Ability to provide effective research assistance and information literacy instruction.
- Strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
Casual Student Library Assistant:
Position description:
- Support with frontline library services (help desk on campus, phone and email / Assist students, staff, and faculty in locating and accessing library resources, including books, journals, and online databases.
- Maintain the library's collections, ensuring resources are current, organised, and easily accessible. (shelving, returns, tidy, pick from shelf).
- Offer technology support for library users, including assistance with digital resources, library software, and equipment.
- Participate in outreach activities to promote library services and resources to the university community.
Desirable skills and qualifications:
- Current UniSC student (undergrad or postgrad), with at least 12 months remaining
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer focused approach to service delivery.
- Proficiency in using technology (Microsoft applications desirable).
Casual Client Services Assistant:
Position description:
- Assist students, staff, and clients in locating and accessing library resources, including books, journals, and online databases, in-person and online.
- Provide research support and guidance, helping users develop effective research strategies and utilise library tools.
- Maintain the library's collections, ensuring resources are current, organised, and easily accessible.
- Offer technology support for library users, including assistance with digital resources, library software, and equipment.
- Conduct library orientation sessions and workshops to educate users on available services and resources.
- Participate in outreach activities to promote library services and resources to the university community.
Desirable skills and qualifications:
- Experience/qualification in library services or information management.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer focused approach to service delivery.
- Proficiency in using library management systems, online databases, and digital resources.
- Strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
