ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
  • be exposed to a broad range of accounting and financial reporting matters, through your involvement in the some of the most complex consolidations in the Australian Government.
  • assist in the preparation of the Australian Government's annual audited Consolidated Financial Statements (CFS), including planning, notes preparation, secretariat actions, procedures and guidance material and quality assurance of agency submissions.
  • assist in the timely and high-quality briefing products, and preparing advice to a wide range of stakeholders, including the Finance Minister, SES officers, the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) and colleagues within Finance.
  • gain experience in data analytics using tools such as PowerBI and advanced Excel queries, to analyse financial results and brief the Executive and Minister.
  • gain practical management and leadership experience, and assist in building capability through mentoring junior staff, including accounting graduates.
  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
  • Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
  • This role is being filled as a specified term vacancy for an initial period of up to 6 months. Specified term vacancies may be extended up to a maximum period of 18 months.
