Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Medical Advisor to bring medical and scientific expertise to our pain management team. In this role, you will strengthen medical strategy, advance evidence generation, and further develop trusted partnerships with healthcare leaders.
This is a full-time ongoing position based in Melbourne, with flexibility to consider part-time (0.8 FTE).
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Customer Facing (30%):
Act as a trusted partner for external experts and professional bodies, including Emergency Physicians, Procedural Specialists, and Paramedics.
Foster long-term advocacy through credible scientific exchange.
Represent the organisation at scientific meetings and support national medical education activities.
National travel required from time to time.
Scientific & Medical Expertise (40%):
Contribute to publication planning, scientific communications, and conference activities.
Serve as subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct, including review of promotional materials.
Strategy & Future Engagement (10%):
Develop and execute therapeutic area medical plans, with a focus on emergency medicine.
Support evidence generation initiatives to address key clinical needs.
Build strong working relationships with global colleagues and partners, contributing to internal projects and external initiatives.
Partner cross-functionally to align medical strategy with business objectives.
Training (20%):
Deliver training for internal teams and external partners (medical, clinical, and commercial).
Mentor and guide colleagues by sharing expertise in the therapeutic area.
Who are you?
You are an accomplished and strategic Medical Advisor / Medical Affairs professional, with pharmaceutical industry experience. You bring scientific expertise, strong ethical standards, and preferably a background in emergency medicine. You are confident in building peer-to-peer relationships, guiding teams, and shaping impactful medical strategies.
Key Requirements/ Qualifications/Prior Experience:
Degree in Life Sciences; advanced qualifications (PharmD, PhD, MBBS, Masters, Fellowship) highly regarded.
5+ years' Medical Affairs experience in Australia (or 7+ years' senior clinical), with leadership experience desirable.
Strong scientific expertise, critical analysis, and knowledge of current literature.
Skilled communicator and collaborator with proven ability to engage senior experts, and work cross-functionally.
Solid understanding of medical governance and compliance requirements.
