Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and effective care to children with complex health conditions.
  • Perform specialised procedures including:

  • Trans-gastric jejunostomy (TGJ): medication administration and continuous pump management

  • Gastrostomy care: decompression and drainage bag management
  • Oral suctioning to maintain airway clearance
  • Ileostomy care and management
  • Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in the child's health condition, escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with families, support staff, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with NCCA's policies and NDIS/DVA standards.
  • Provide education and support to families and carers on safe care practices.
Pre-requisite Training & Competencies
  • Asthma management
  • Seizure management
  • Medication safety
  • Chest physiotherapy
  • Infusaport observation (observation only)
Essential Requirements
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
  • Paediatric nursing experience, preferably in community or hospital settings.
  • Demonstrated competence in managing complex paediatric health needs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and family-centered care approach.
  • Valid Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Up-to-date immunisation record (including COVID-19 vaccination).
  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in community-based paediatric nursing.
  • Training in complex bowel management or palliative paediatric care.
