Your Role
The Residential & SPL Manager, A&NZ role is responsible for the profitable growth and bottom-line P&L accountability for the Residential & SPL Line of Business for Australia. Responsibilities include existing account management, portfolio management and oversight, end-to-end product development (in conjunction with regional management) and the execution of profitable growth strategies for the Residential & SPL Line of Business.
Your Responsibilities
- Monitor the performance (top and bottom line) of the Residential & SPL Product in Australia.
- Manage a small team, consisting of Underwriters and Portfolio Managers, to track bottom line performance, review rates and product and make recommendations, monitor risk aggregation and underwriting guidelines.
- Proactively engage with Regional Management, local Distribution Channel Heads, Claims, Operations and IT to achieve both strategic and tactical production goals for Residential & SPL.
- Full responsibility for working with regional management and local and Regional Underwriting to develop and adequately price products to generate expected top line revenue and bottom-line returns.
- Full responsibility for working with actuarial to adequately price residential products to generate expected returns. Develops basic pricing proposals and understands basic actuarial concepts to price and evaluate performance.
- Liaise with the claims department to impact underwriting results by collaborating on claim process improvement and addressing loss trends.
- Ensures the effective utilization of analytical tools and resources to maximise profitable growth opportunities and achievement of the line's profitability and risk objectives. This includes managing underwriting risk and proactively managing all components of the Residential & SPL P&L.
- Oversee case underwriting for risks above local level and ensures that referrals up the underwriting chain are complete and of good quality.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Product (Residential Australia), managing and developing Consumer Insurance product in the Australian market.
- Proven track record of Consumer Insurance Relationship Management for Consumer Insurance products, including implementation of new business projects/partnerships and ongoing maximisation.
- Proven track record of team management, including management or influence across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong team player who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Desired
- Relevant Tertiary education will be an advantage but not essential.
