Brisbane Boys' College is an established GPS day and boarding school founded in 1902, dedicated to developing boys into worthy leaders and good citizens. Located just four kilometres from Brisbane's centre, we educate students from Prep to Year 12.
About the role:
This casual position will have a direct line of responsibility to the Head of Performance Music and thereafter the Head of Co-curricular – Culture and Enrichment and the Headmaster of Brisbane Boys' College.
Brisbane Boys' College has a proud tradition of Music and Music Excellence. The Piano/Keyboard program is an integral part of the success of this program. Based on the pursuit of further excellence, this position of Piano, Keyboard Tutor would continue a high standard of pedagogical delivery. This position is one of individual teaching.
Qualifications
- Tertiary Music Qualification
Selection Criteria - Teaching
- Exhibit experience and discernment in teaching and assessing the Piano/Keyboard, with a knowledge of contemporary teaching and pedagogy.
- Able to prepare students to the highest standard, with the aim of them engaging in examinations provided by organisations like the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and Trinity College London.
- To be aware of appropriate repertoire that promotes holistic and enthusiastic learning.
- Required to provide a written report of each student at the end of both semesters.
- Complete administration that is relevant to this position.
- Assist in supervising and attending concerts held at the College – staff are encouraged to attend concerts and recitals.
- To monitor and encourage students' attendance at rehearsals and concerts.
- To work with the Head of Performance Music in further developing Piano/Keyboard teaching at Brisbane Boys' College.
- Demonstrate the ability to inspire, recruit and motivate students of all levels and standards.
- Maintain student Piano/Keyboard numbers within the Music Department.
- Ability to contribute and work both individually and in a team environment.
- Assist the Head of Performance Music in overseeing the purchase and maintenance of Keyboard instruments and equipment.

- Hold a current Blue Card
