We are looking for a passionate and reliable Commis Chef to join our hotel kitchen team at Mercure Sydney Parramatta. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys early starts, takes pride in preparing high-quality dishes, and thrives in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of breakfast dishes to a high standard
  • Ensure all food is prepared efficiently and presented consistently
  • Support the Head Chef and kitchen team during service
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, and stock rotation
  • Participate in menu development and contribute ideas for improvement
  • Attend training and development sessions as required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Commis Chef or similar role, preferably in hotel or breakfast service
  • Strong knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Ability to work efficiently during early morning shifts
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed
  • Full working rights in Australia – this is essential
  • Culinary qualification or relevant training is required
