We are looking for a passionate and reliable Commis Chef to join our hotel kitchen team at Mercure Sydney Parramatta. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys early starts, takes pride in preparing high-quality dishes, and thrives in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of breakfast dishes to a high standard
- Ensure all food is prepared efficiently and presented consistently
- Support the Head Chef and kitchen team during service
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
- Assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, and stock rotation
- Participate in menu development and contribute ideas for improvement
- Attend training and development sessions as required
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a Commis Chef or similar role, preferably in hotel or breakfast service
- Strong knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Ability to work efficiently during early morning shifts
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed
- Full working rights in Australia – this is essential
- Culinary qualification or relevant training is required
