Diesel Motor Mechanic

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Motor Mechanic with a specialised focus on agricultural equipment to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent diagnostic skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

●       Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in various agricultural machinery, including but not limited to tractors, harvesters, sprayers, tillage equipment, and balers, using both traditional methods and advanced diagnostic computer software.

●       Repairs and Maintenance: Perform comprehensive repairs, maintenance, and overhauls of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical components, braking systems, and other mechanical parts of agricultural equipment.

●       Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance as per manufacturer specifications and industry best practices to ensure optimal performance and longevity of machinery. This includes oil changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups, and filter replacements.

●       Component Replacement: Dismantle, remove, repair, and replace worn or defective parts and reassemble mechanical components, referring to service manuals and technical specifications as needed.

●       Testing and Adjustment: Test and adjust mechanical and electrical systems after repairs to ensure proper performance, efficiency, and compliance with safety and operational standards.

●       Field Service: Provide on-site repairs and field servicing, often in remote locations, requiring independent problem-solving and effective time management.

●       Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and diagnostic works performed.

●       Safety Compliance: Adhere to all occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for self and others.

●       Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients, providing clear explanations of issues and repairs, and offering technical advice.

●       Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other mechanics, apprentices, and workshop staff, potentially mentoring junior team members.

●       Parts Management: Identify and order necessary parts and components for repairs.

●       Trade Qualification: Australian recognised Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology, or equivalent trade qualification.

●       Experience: Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years preferred) as a Diesel Motor Mechanic, specifically with agricultural equipment.

●       Technical Skills:

○       Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and transmissions.

○       Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and computer software.

○       Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

○       Experience with specific agricultural equipment brands (e.g., John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Massey Ferguson) is highly regarded.
