About the Cardiology Department
The Cardiology Department is responsible for the provision of an extensive range of cardiac services to inpatients and outpatients including general cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure service, echocardiography, cardiac catheterisation, interventional and structural heart procedures, and non-invasive diagnostic procedures.
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Structural Heart Fellow to join our Cardiology Department for a 12-month Fellowship position from February 2026.
About the role
Fellows must be familiar with and able to participate in pre- and post-procedural management of patients undergoing elective procedures via the day surgery unit and wards, and also of those requiring in-patient procedures, originating in the Coronary Care Unit, the Intensive Care Unit and via the Emergency Department.
Fellows will participate and assist in performing the following procedures but are not necessarily expected to achieve independent operator status in a 12-month fellowship:
- Balloon aortic and mitral valvuloplasty
- Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
- Atrial septal defect and patent foramen ovale closures
- Left atrial appendage occlusion procedures
- Percutaneous edge-to-edge mitral valve repair
- Other structural heart procedures

About you
As the Structural Heart Fellow, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role you must:
- Be a registered Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) - (note eligible applicants will be assisted through this process).
- Have completed core cardiology training of the RACP or overseas equivalent.
