Looking to turn your hands-on skills into a rewarding, long-term career? We're on the lookout for motivated individuals ready to dive into a dynamic environment where every day brings new challenges and new wins. Join Bunge's team based at Port Adelaide as a Bulk Loading Plant Operator and play a vital role in our supply chain.
About the role
As a Bulk Loading Plant (BLP) Operator at our Adelaide Ports terminals, you'll be at the heart of Australia's multiple commodity export operations, playing a crucial role in ensuring our commodities are loaded safely, efficiently, and on time to meet strict export schedules.
This position offers the perfect blend of hands-on technical work and teamwork. You'll operate and monitor a range of machinery to load bulk commodities onto ships, ensuring each load meets hygiene and safety standards required for export.
You will collaborate closely with other operators, terminal management, and our logistics team to coordinate loading schedules, manage stock handling, and respond quickly to any issues or challenges that arise during operations. This means the role is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring adaptability, focus, and a strong commitment to safety.
Duties include:
- Operate Bulk Loading Machinery: Safely and efficiently manage the equipment that loads grain and other commodities in bulk onto ships, ensuring precision and care to meet export requirements.
- Perform Routine Maintenance: Assist with the upkeep and basic repairs of plant machinery and equipment to minimise downtime and keep operations running smoothly.
- Safety Inspections and Compliance: Conduct and participate in regular safety checks and plant inspections, identifying hazards and taking proactive steps to maintain a safe working environment.
- Hygiene and Cleanliness: Maintain strict hygiene standards around the plant, including cleaning duties, to comply with export regulations and company policies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with your fellow operators, supervisors, and logistics personnel to coordinate loading schedules and troubleshoot operational challenges.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training programs to build your skills, stay updated on safety procedures, and improve plant efficiency.
- Problem Solving: Respond promptly and effectively to any operational issues or equipment faults, using your initiative to minimise disruptions and keep the loading process on track.
About you
- You're proactive and take initiative, always ready to step up and get the job done.
- Safety is your top priority—you follow procedures closely and encourage a safe working environment.
- You adapt easily to changing tasks and can manage multiple priorities effectively.
- When challenges arise, you stay calm and think critically to find practical solutions.
- You work well with others, communicating clearly and supporting your team to achieve goals.
- You have basic mechanical knowledge or a readiness to learn.
- Previous experience in bulk loading or grain handling is helpful but not essential.
The successful applicant must have or be able to possess a MSIC/Flinders Ports card.
