About the RoleThe Marketing Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end management of key commercial partnerships deliverables across Surfing Australia's major properties, including events, programs, and campaigns. This role oversees the delivery of marketing, PR, 3rd party earned media and brand integration outcomes for high-value partners, ensuring performance aligns with contractual entitlements and broader organisational objectives.
A core function of the role is to lead the development and execution of large-scale, integrated national marketing and communications campaigns across Surfing Australia platforms. This includes working across a key participation junior surfing initiative, a branded surf festival, a women's surf program and various Surfing events.
The role requires strong account servicing capability, a deep understanding of brand strategy, and experience delivering multi-channel campaigns within a sporting or live events environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing Campaign Planning & Execution

Lead the strategic planning and rollout of national marketing campaigns across Surfing Australia's partner-funded programs and events.

Develop integrated media and content plans spanning paid, earned, shared, and owned channels.

Coordinate with in-house and external creative, PR, and digital agencies for content production, distribution, and amplification.

Execute and distribute digital and direct marketing camapaigns.

Ensure all brand campaigns are delivered on time, on budget, and in line with creative strategy and brand guidelines.
Account & Partnership Management

Serve as the primary relationship manager for some of Surfing Australia's major commercial partners.

Ensure delivery of contractual assets and activations across events, programs, content, marketing, and communications.

Act as a liaison between internal departments and partner stakeholders to coordinate approvals, milestones, and deliverables.

Manage partnership reporting and wrap-up documentation, including data, metrics, and content recaps.

Identify opportunities to strengthen partner alignment and contribute to renewal conversations.
Earned Media, Public Relations & Communications

Lead PR planning, media outreach, and narrative development across partnership campaigns.

Draft and distribute media releases, official statements, key messaging, and campaign assets.

Coordinate earned media opportunities including ambassador media calls, talent interviews, and press coverage at events.

Able to develop new creative ideas & stories that you pitch to media

Maintain relationships with key sport, lifestyle, and mainstream media outlets relevant to Surfing Australia's strategic goals.
Event Marketing & Brand Activation

Oversee partner presence and branding at Surfing Australia events, including signage, merchandise, ambassador engagements, and activation zones.

Work with Events and Production teams to deliver high-quality, seamless brand integration onsite.

Ensure marketing and content outputs from events deliver value for partners and align with campaign messaging.
Reporting, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

Track and evaluate campaign performance across key metrics including media value, reach, engagement, and partner satisfaction.

Deliver formal post-campaign and post-event reports to stakeholders.

Conduct internal reviews and propose optimisations for future campaign

Minimum 5 years' experience in ATL & BTL marketing for a consumer brand, media company or sport.

Minimum 5 years' experience with brand partnerships, sponsorship servicing or agency account management.

Demonstrated experience planning and delivering national, multi-channel marketing campaigns.

Strong knowledge of integrated campaign development across media, content, digital, and PR.

Experience working within or alongside the sports, events or entertainment industry.

Solid 3rd party National, State & local media relationships

Skill of 360 degrees marketing execution on campaigns through social media, content marketing, direct marketing and graphics design.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience writing media and brand copy.

Proven stakeholder management capability, with ability to balance creative delivery with partner requirements.

Highly organised and capable of managing multiple concurrent campaigns and deadlines.

Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external agencies and vendors.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field required

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, and major social media management platforms
