Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced
Senior Firmware Engineer
to join our engineering team on the Gold Coast. You will take ownership of embedded development across low-level drivers, RTOS, and Linux systems, while working closely with hardware and software teams to deliver reliable and high-performance products. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain firmware for embedded systems (bare-metal, RTOS, Linux).
  • Translate product requirements into efficient architectures and software designs.
  • Write and maintain firmware documentation and design diagrams (UML).
  • Implement firmware modules in
    C/C++
    , following coding standards and best practices.
  • Develop and run automated tests to ensure quality and performance.
  • Debug complex issues using advanced tools (gdb, JTAG, network analysis).
  • Collaborate with hardware, QA, and desktop software teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 6+ years of commercial embedded firmware or Linux software development.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills.
  • Experience with RTOS, multi-threaded applications, and Linux environments.
  • Proficiency with debugging and version control tools (gdb, Git).
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and tools like Wireshark.
  • Experience with Linux kernel or device driver development is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and lead by example.
