Casual Academic Teaching Staff - ICT Degree Programs/ Courses (UniSc Adelaide)
University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) has partnered with the Education Centre of Australia (ECA), opening a new campus in Adelaide in 2024, located at 182 Victoria Square. The campus offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs for international students, from the UniSC School of Science, Technology and Engineering (STE).
We are seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced individuals to teach new and current courses (subjects) in one or more of the following ICT degree programs:
- Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology
- Master of Information and Communications Technology
- Master of Cyber Security and Forensics
You will work closely with the Academic Lead-IT Programs to ensure that all courses are delivered and assessed to the requirements of the University; and any external agencies/ professional bodies.
Successful candidates will need to start in time for commencement of classes in Trimester You will be employed by ECA as a casual academic employee (Lecturing/Tutoring level). All teaching staff are accountable to the UniSC Adelaide Academic Director and Principal, Professor Roberta Crouch.
Areas of Subject Expertise required for teaching in the following courses/ subjects in 2025:
- BUS104 Discovering Management (U/g)
- BUS703 Evidence Based Decision Making (P/g)
- INF701 Business Transformation through Technology (P/g)
- SEC705 Digital Forensics (P/g)
- ICT703 Data Visualisation (P/g)
- ICT703 Programming (P/g)
The sequence of courses (subjects) will vary across the relevant degree programs offered.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality interactive teaching to students in accordance with UniSC curricula.
- Manage the UniSC LMS for delivery of specific courses (subjects/ units).
- Create and maintain an innovative learning environment for students to meet learning outcomes and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks.
- Identify students who are 'at risk' of failing a unit and assist them via the appropriate referral to the Academic Lead- IT Programs / Learning Support Coordinator.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
- Provide ongoing student support both face to face and online through email and the UniSC LMS.
- Assure the quality of the assessment and examinations processes as directed by the Academic Lead- IT Programs.
- Support the Academic Lead- IT Programs when required through administrative requirements and completion of reports.
- Adhere to UniSC policies and procedures as instructed by the relevant Academic Lead.
- Ensure UniSC courses are offered in compliance with all legislative and quality requirements, particularly those prescribed by the ESOS Act.
As the successful candidate, you will have:
- A postgraduate level qualification in a relevant discipline (a PhD or Masters plus relevant industry experience for postgraduate courses/a minimum of Masters for teaching undergraduate courses)
- Experience in teaching university level courses.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Experience with teaching international students.
- Relevant professional and/or industry experience is desirable.
- Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching is desirable.
- Cisco CCNA and/or CCNP certificate is desirable.
- Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
