The Role:

Lead the Food & Beverage Team to coordinate food and beverage service, liaise with vendors, manage wedding formalities and assist with events set up and packdown.

This role is part of a team of dedicated hospitality leaders with a passion for weddings and a strong commitment to creating memorable experiences. Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager, you will work alongside the Head Chef, Wedding Planning Team, and Venue Services Coordinator to create a seamless experience for couples, clients and their guests.

You will guide and inspire the Food & Beverage Team to provide warm, polished and professional service that reflects Gabbinbar's high standard. From coordinating wedding formalities and vendor interactions to overseeing food and beverage service and event packdown, you will ensure that every couple, guest and vendor receives the Gabbinbar Experience

Work Schedule:

As a seven-day business, this role requires availability to work most weekends, public holidays, with working hours spanning mornings, evenings and late nights. The position is a hands-on leadership role combining wedding and event coordination, guiding the guest experience and food and beverage service and combined has two key roles and you could be rostered on either:

Mid-Shift Food & Beverage Team Lead: Hours usually vary between 11am - 9pm. Lead the Food & Beverage Team to coordinate food and beverage service, liaise with vendors, manage wedding formalities and assist with events set up alongside the planner. 

Packdown Food & Beverage Team Lead: Hours usually vary within 2:30pm - 12:30am. Take the lead when the Mid-Shift Food & Beverage Team Lead finishes, guiding final formalities, overseeing packdown and ensuring all service areas are cleaned and restocked.

Team Lead Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate tasks as required for the event in line with the run sheet e.g. fireworks, cake cutting, etc, and end of night pack down
  • Strong understanding of Wedding and Event Details prior to shift commencement
  • Manage workloads and break compliance, assessing attendant's performance and general reporting to Food & Beverage Manager
  • Ensure all staff have a good understanding of the wedding details for each shift
  • Provide clear and precise delegation of duties to staff in a respectful manner and follow up on their progress. Ensuring efficient workflow
  • Facilitate a positive working culture
  • Provide exceptional service to our clients and their guests
  • Ensure the performance of your team is of a very high standard
  • Facilitate on the job training and development with team
  • Discuss and resolve problems as they occur
  • Manage client expectations, feedback and complaints as they arrive
  • Maintain order of storage areas after each wedding/event
  • Glassware count and replenishing
  • Store drink stock when delivered, or delegate to the team.

About You:

  • 1+ years of hospitality experience is necessary
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate will be required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Professional time management

  • Ability to give attention to the details
  • The ability to manage multiple requests and client demands at any given time
  • The ability to work and contribute positively to a team as well as work autonomously.
