Job title: Full-Time Support Worker (CareVolve)
Job purpose
Provide high-quality, person‑centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs or other support requirements so they can live as independently, safely and actively in their community as possible.
Day-to-day overview
- Deliver practical assistance with daily living tasks: personal care, meal preparation, shopping, household chores and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Support with health needs within agreed guidance: medication prompts/admin (if trained), attending appointments, and monitoring wellbeing.
- Enable community involvement: accompany and encourage participation in education, work, social groups, volunteering and leisure activities.
- Build trusting relationships: listen to and advocate for service users' choices, dignity and independence.
- Follow, contribute to and review personalised support plans and risk assessments; record daily notes and incident reports accurately and promptly.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers and multi‑disciplinary teams, attending meetings and communicating any changes in needs.
- Implement positive behaviour support techniques and safeguarding procedures; respond calmly during crises and escalate appropriately.
- Attend mandatory training, supervisions and team meetings; take part in continuous professional development.
Reporting & working arrangements
- Reports to: Team Leader / Service Manager.
- Work pattern: full‑time shift rota (may include mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends/holidays).
- Travel: local travel between service users' homes and community activities; mileage reimbursement where applicable.
Essential qualifications & checks
- Right to work in Australia and willingness to complete a criminal record check.
- Basic literacy and record‑keeping skills; good communicative ability.
- Willingness to undertake required training (e.g., First Aid, Medication Awareness, Positive Behaviour Support.

- Ability to promote independence and person‑centred choice.
- Reliable, flexible and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Observant, organised and able to follow plans, policies and safeguarding procedures.

Outcomes & performance indicators
- Positive feedback from service users and families.
- Accurate, timely records and compliance with care plans and safeguarding requirements.
- Successful support of service users to meet agreed goals (independence, community engagement, health outcomes).
- Low rate of preventable incidents and effective risk management.
