We are looking for a Senior Cyber Security Specialist to support and enhance our information / cyber security management framework through the implementation of new initiatives and technologies, as well as the operation of existing security controls and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Operating, managing and maintaining security tools and technologies such as firewalls, EDR/XDR systems, antivirus software, DLP software, reverse proxies, network/application scanners, identity and authorization management platforms and SIEM to ensure effective security operations.
  • Identifying and managing vulnerabilities and their remediation status across cloud, server, workstation and mobile devices, in close collaboration with product owners and application owners.
  • Continuously monitoring networks, systems, and applications for suspicious activities or anomalies that could indicate a security breach or threat.
  • Responding promptly to security incidents, including investigating, analysing, and mitigating security breaches or incidents to minimize their impact and prevent future occurrences.
  • Driving security initiatives through Agile/Scrum practices, balancing project work with BAU priorities.
  • Working closely with Product and Application Owners, champion cyber security requirements and architecture standards across enterprise initiatives. Evaluating and designing security solutions and architectures to ensure that systems, networks, and applications are adequately protected against cyber threats, adhering to security best practices and industry standards.
  • Gathering, analysing, and interpreting threat intelligence information to understand emerging threats and trends, and proactively implementing measures to defend against potential cyber attacks.

Additional Responsibilities
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as Infrastructure, legal, compliance, and risk management to ensure a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity, and effectively communicating security-related issues, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years in a cyber security role.
  • Tertiary qualification in an IT related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience in an operational context.
  • Viewing cybersecurity from a DevSecOps lens and integrating security practices and principles into the DevOps workflow.
  • Strong knowledge of information security technologies and concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Results driven self-starter comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Ideally someone with prior experience securing systems in regulated industries, such as Finance, Infrastructure or Health services.
