Job Description

We are seeking a Data Scientist / Data Analyst with strong analytical, technical, and communication skills to support our data intelligence and benchmarking initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL, VBA, and experience working with estimators, schedulers, and project engineers to extract, analyse, and visualise data.

This role will involve developing data models, performing benchmarking studies, and delivering actionable insights to enhance project estimation, scheduling, and performance evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and automated reporting systems for cost, schedule, and facility benchmarking.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and analysis using SQL and related tools to support project control functions, while also managing databases and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of benchmarking datasets.
• Enhance coding skills—particularly in VBA—to develop automation solutions, streamline workflows, and improve data processing efficiency within project control activities.
• Generate insights and recommendations to improve forecasting, performance tracking, and business decision-making related to mining and benchmarking.
• Collaborate closely with Estimators, Schedulers, and Project Managers to align data models with business needs and validate analytical results.
• Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through effective data storytelling.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in data science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline; Master's or Honours qualification in Software Engineering or Artificial Intelligence is desirable.
• Minimum 2 years of experience using Power BI, SQL, and VBA in a data analytics or project environment.
• Proven ability to perform analysis, benchmarking and mapping within mining, infrastructure, or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of database querying, data modelling, problem-solving skills, and data science techniques, with the ability to apply AI-driven solutions to enhance data analysis and decision-making.
• Strong communication skills, particularly when working with estimators, schedulers, and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in mining industry, ability to benchmark data and handle or large-scale engineering projects and databases.
• Familiarity with project control systems, scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project), and estimation datasets.
• Exposure to benchmarking frameworks or capital project analytics.
• Working knowledge of Python or R for advanced data modelling.
• Good knowledge of statistics, compounding and Machine Learning.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
