We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting chance to contribute to cutting-edge projects and play a key role in shaping the future of lifting technology.

This role will include working at our Morwell and Moe locations.

Our engineers excel in a collaborative environment, working seamlessly with customers and supporting Safetech's manufacturing and installation teams. We foster a culture of innovation and leadership, where fresh ideas are encouraged and opportunities to implement them are embraced.

Core duties include:

  • Design, modify, and improve standard and bespoke products to customer requirements, ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency.
  • Develop new products, track design changes, and document implementations.
  • Collaborate with production, marketing, and sales to reduce costs, optimise designs, and enhance product functionality.
  • Provide technical support to production, service, and installation teams, including troubleshooting, documentation, and quality control.
  • Assist marketing and sales with custom design quotes, including customer liaison, specification determination, cost estimation, and proposal drawings.
  • Gain market insights by working closely with sales, service, and customers, including participation in site visits and installations.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving and product improvement initiatives through value engineering and risk assessments (DFMEA).
  • Apply best practices in 3D CAD design, utilising parametric modelling for efficiency.
  • Adhere to engineering KPIs and promote a "one team, one goal" mindset to maximise customer value.

The successful applicants will possess:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a related field.
  • Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering qualification from a reputable organisation.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience with Vault PDM.
  • General knowledge of Australian Standards.
  • Experience with structural calculations for mechanical equipment is highly favourable.
  • FEA experience using Nastran or Strand7 is favourable.
