About the Department of Anatomical Pathology

The Department of Anatomical Pathology provides services to over 20 public hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. It is the one of the largest public Anatomical Pathology departments in Victoria.

About the role 

The Department of Anatomical Pathology are seeking a Grade 1 Medical Scientist (temporary parental leave backfill until March 2026) full time or part time job share to rotate through routine Histology, IHC, frozen sections and surgical cut-up. 

As a Grade 1 Medical Scientist at Austin Health, you will work collaboratively with a supportive team of professionals including technicians, scientists and pathologists. You'll enjoy our continuing education and quality improvement strategies.

About you 

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

  • Excellent communication skills and strong commitment to improving your technical skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of laboratory techniques and principles across multiple pathology disciplines
  • Tertiary degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting is essential.
