The Role

The Mercure Townsville is looking for a dedicated, hardworking and experienced commis chef to join our busy kitchen team.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work well under pressure whilst upholding high standards. Having a great work ethic, creativity and a passion for producing quality food, you will be reporting to the Executive Chef.

You will also possess the following:

  • Trade qualified Cert 3 in commercial cookery
  • Experience with catering and functions
  • Experience assisting in planning & co-ordinating menus for functions, banquets and special events
  • Al a Carte experience
  • Ability to follow and develop recipes
  • Be self-driven and work as part of a team
  • Previous experience in high-volume, multi-venue operations is advantageous
  • An enthusiastic attitude
  • Effective communication skills
  • Super calm under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of WH&S legislation and Health regulations.
