Job Function

PIER Marketing Group (PIER) is a marketing and design consultancy based in Mornington, Victoria. PIER Creative & Web is a business unit within the group.

The function of the Web Developer is to ensure that PIER websites are developed to the highest technical quality using best practice from a coding, security and user experience perspective. The Web Developer will be expected to clearly communicate and work on a range of open-source CMS solutions (primarily Webflow), website builds and updates and landing pages. You will also help provide technical solutions and ideas and work closely with the tech lead on maintaining best practice development processes.

The role will also give the successful candidate some responsibility of developing the PIER systems and processes to ensure profitable delivery of excellent development work.

Key Duties

  • Work closely with our team to build functional and professional custom Webflow & WordPress websites (and other platforms as required).
  • Promptly solve technical issues and bugs.
  • Be able to communicate in a technically competent manner, whilst also simplifying language into layman's terms.
  • Evaluating new projects to determine the most suitable development framework, process and methodology.
  • Support with the coordination of client hosting, security requirements etc.
  • API work (booking portals, CRM integrations, Shopify etc).
  • Creating and maintaining Webflow and WordPress sites and Blocks (Reusable Components, Advanced Custom Fields, Custom Post Types + Gutenberg Blocks are preferred for page building).
  • Keeping up-to-date with the best programming practices.
  • Involvement in technical training with internal and external teams where required.
  • Delivering work within scope of time, budget and deadline.

Key Capabilities

  • Advanced level of HTML, PHP, JavaScript and CSS coding and web standards compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail with exacting standards.
  • Training & experience in developing WordPress websites from end to end (design, development,
  • deployment, and maintenance).
  • Experience in developing Websites using Webflow (preferred, but can be learned).
  • A robust understanding of developing responsive websites.
  • Familiarity with editing DNS records (preferably using Cloudflare).
  • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging.
  • Analytical and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with multiple environments (dev, staging, live).
  • The ability to work autonomously.
  • Clean and simple development style – easy for the PIER team and clients to update sites.
  • Eager to learn and problem solve, passionate about development.
  • Understanding of layout aesthetics and graphic design (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of SEO principles. (additional experience in this area is
  • favourable).
  • Sound knowledge of Google Analytics including; setup, analysis, and reporting (preferred).
  • Sound knowledge in Figma (preferred).
  • Positive attitude.
  • Communicate effectively; up front, all of the time.

Additional Duties


• Occasional attendance at out of hours meetings and events.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor degree.
  • 5+ years of web development experience.
  • Agency-based experience preferred.
