Plant Operators – Waste Transfer

Protech Labour Hire | Townsville, QLD

Protech is seeking experienced Plant Operators for waste transfer operations with a reputable Townsville-based client. This role offers a rotating roster and excellent working conditions for reliable and safety-conscious operators.

About the Role

  • Immediate start available
  • Classification: LGE 3 – LGE 6 (based on experience)
  • Hours: 38 hours per week + potential overtime
  • Roster: 4 days on / 4 days off | 6:15am – 6:00pm
  • Competitive rates + penalties
  • Full PPE required

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate loaders and compactors to manage and cover waste
  • Perform duties at the Transfer Station, including bin emptying and area maintenance
  • Monitor and maintain segregated waste zones and litter fencing
  • Provide relief coverage for Gatehouse Operator and assist customers
  • Support Resource Recovery and landfill operations in line with environmental and safety standards
  • Supervise recycling and transfer station processes
  • Conduct manual handling, signage maintenance, and hazardous waste storage
  • Operate landfill machinery safely and efficiently
  • Accurately process transactions via weighbridge systems
  • Perform pre-start and shutdown checks on equipment
  • Ensure dust suppression, litter control, and hazardous waste procedures are followed
  • Carry out other duties as required within classification level

Requirements Mandatory:

  • Current HR class driver's licence (QLD)
  • Front End Loader (LL) and Compactor (LR) tickets
  • Ability to pass a Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical

Desirable:

  • Grader (LG), Excavator (LE), Dozer (LZ), and Backhoe tickets
  • Previous experience in waste management or landfill operations
