General:

This is a contract role with a high profile Federal Government agency.

This role will prove to be both interesting and rewarding to the successful applicant.

You must be an Australian Citizen to apply.

Security level: preferably already have a federal Baseline security clearance.

Location – Canberra City office.

WFH – generally, 3 days in office / 2 days WFH each week.

Start – estimated: early December 2025.

Initial contract duration – to 30 June 2026.

Extension expected – +6 months.

The Role:

Our client requires a highly skilled and experienced infrastructure engineer to serve as a dedicated escalation point for their current Network Project.

The person would be the primary contact to aid them in resolving complex technical issues, answering technical questions, and providing expert guidance with regards to a suite of Fortinet products.

They expect the infrastructure engineer to possess deep product knowledge, exceptional troubleshooting abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring timely resolution of any challenges that may arise during the project's implementation and beyond.

The role is considered crucial in maintaining project momentum, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the successful deployment and ongoing operation of our network infrastructure.

Technical skills:

  1. Demonstrated Network Experience: Proven experience working in a contemporary, secure ICT environment with expertise in technical services, particularly in:

  2. Azure Cloud Infrastructure;

  3. FortiGate Firewalls;
  4. Fortinet SD-WAN;
  5. Fortinet Azure NVA deployments;
  6. FortiClient;
  7. FortiSASE;
  8. FortiSandbox.

In addition:

  1. Network Mapping: Ability to map data movements across network zones and cross-domain environments.
  2. Visio Proficiency: Strong skills in creating detailed network diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
  3. Communication Skills: Highly developed written and oral communication skills, especially in discussing technical and strategic matters with non-technical stakeholders.
  4. Attention to Detail: Demonstrated high level of attention to detail, including the ability to write detailed technical documentation.
