Trainee 2026 Intake Expression of Interest

Scenic Rim Regional Council is planning to offer a range of entry level traineeships in 2026, providing opportunities to earn a nationally recognised qualification while gaining valuable on the job experience in areas such as:

  • Regulatory Services
  • Digital Libraries Services
  • Library Services
  • Ranger Services
  • Information Technology
  • Civil Construction
  • Regional Events
  • Economic Development
  • Records Management

These opportunities provide a pathway to gain a nationally recognised qualification while working full-time and learning practical, on-the-job skills under the guidance of experienced staff and a registered training provider.

Traineeships are offered for a 12-18 month duration (role dependent) and are designed for those without prior qualifications. They provide valuable experience and training that may assist with future employment.

Additionally, you'll also …

You will be given time during work hours to complete module work from your traineeship; however, it will also be your responsibility to take the initiative in completing module work in your own time, ensuring you are on track with your training plan. You will be required to follow instructions from a supervisor who will guide you through allocated tasks, while we expect you to manage your own time to complete assigned tasks within designated time frames.

Criteria to be considered includes:

  • young people (aged 15–24 years), including those in and transitioned from out-of-home care
  • long-term unemployed job seekers
  • mature-age job seekers (aged 45 years or older)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • migrants and refugees from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • people with disability
  • displaced workers
  • women re-entering the workforce, and
  • veterans, ex-ADF personnel and their families.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • aged 15 years or older and no longer at school
  • able to meet citizen, residency and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship, and be eligible to undertake a traineeship (eligibility may be affected by prior completed qualifications or traineeships).

Once applications have closed, we will review all submissions and contact you to advise the status of your application and provide any additional information.

We anticipate holding interviews for shortlisted candidates in November/December, offers to be made early in 2026, with a start in February/March 2026.
