The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Trade Assistant to join our team in Mackay. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for assisting Diesel Fitters with service and repairs of heavy engineering parts and components.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assist trades people conducting repairs of mechanical equipment and parts.
  • Assist with maintaining the workshop and associated equipment in a safe, clean, and tidy condition.
  • Operation of grinders, spray painting equipment and other tools and machinery as required in a safe manner.

About You

To be considered for this position you will ideally have:

  • Sound mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate grinders, spray painting equipment and other tools and machinery safely.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Hands on person who can prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Forklift license (beneficial but not essential),
  • Previous experience working in mining / manufacturing industry (preferred).
